Video Wig Review: Shilo by Noriko in Sandy Silver (Custom Color)

Yep, custom colors can  happen – but it’s a bit more complicated than ordering your old faithful style online. I purchased this one through Kathy at Gallery of Wigs, who placed the order for me with Rene of Paris. The requirements for the custom color were that I had to order three of them (monotops only, non-monotops required a minimum of 5) and I had to wait three months or so to get them in. I found one other person who wanted to try the Shilo in a gray (she bought two, I bought one) and we placed the order. We had to put half down, I think, then pay the balance when they came in. They were also more expensive that regular Shilos, but not by an outrageous amount. Each one was still under $200, if I am remembering correctly.

Some warnings about custom orders: if you don’t like what you get, you may not be able to return them. Kathy at GOW did not take returns for ours which was fine in this case, because we liked them anyway. Later my friend ordered another style and gray color from her and was disappointed with them; she was eventually able to return them but it took some convincing and emailing back and forth, and I’m not sure what the final outcome was of that (if she was able to get her money back or just re-order, not sure).

Anyway, it’s nice to know this is possible, especially if you like gray hair and want a longer style, since aside from Margu I’ve not seen longer grays.

Disclaimers: I bought this item with my own money and no one paid or asked me to do the review. Also, this video is old and I no longer wear wigs regularly or do reviews. I have a pretty good backlog of videos I’d like to eventually upload here, so if you’d like email updates of when new reviews are posted you can follow my blog – but please keep in mind that I write about a lot of other  things here, including posts about my bio hair and shoe shopping and photography. So if you’d rather not get email updates about things like that, you might not want to follow the blog and just check back on occasion instead.
