This is a short post to ask my Flickr followers and friends if they can sign into Flickr today? I’ve been trying all morning but I get the same error over and over: “Sorry, there was an error. Please sign in again with the same account or a different one.” I sign in through Google Plus and have tried using both the Chrome and Explorer browsers.
I’ve had login issues in the past with Flickr, but they’ve never lasted this long. Anyone else having problems this morning?

I was able to sign in this morning, but one of my Flickr friends lost her entire photostream last week and has been working hard to get it back this week. For part of last week she had to create a new Flickr account and then could only follow her old photostream. I don’t think the problem is completely resolved, but hearing about your issue this morning now leads me to wonder if there are others and so a discussion to solve it, somewhere on Flickr? Annoying.
It has happened before, and usually I don’t worry about it because in a few hours it’s resolved. But this has been going on awhile, and I really wanted to upload and comment today. That’s what I hate is not even being able to let people know that I’m not MIA, I just can’t get logged in!
Maybe there is a discussion going on, somewhere else online, (does Flickr have a FB page, I wonder?) about parts of Flickr going down…when I have problems, I google them to see if anyone else is having that issue. Or, can you create a new account and get into Flickr that way? If so, you could then comment on your main photostream. Flickr is such a curse sometimes.
I’ve searched but haven’t seen any recent discussions. I hadn’t thought of getting a new account and commenting though – good idea. If it stays down, I will try that.
As far as my other issue, I did speak with the Dean this morning about not talking to that person alone and he agreed. So that’s at least settled.
Oh, I was able to visit your page today there. Want me to comment or put a message up there for you until you can get in and take it down???

I just went there right now and am able to comment. If you give me an exact statement, I will put it in quotes and even, if you think so, all caps?

Well, now there is a face and name to complain to, at least. I have been logging in through Yahoo, which now makes sense vis a vis this new policy.
This is actually a big mess! I NEVER received any notification that my gmail account would stop working, and it appears now that it has WITHOUT me ever taking the steps that were necessary to transfer my account over. So sure, i can open a new account but all of my contacts/connections are lost. Not to mention all my photos.
Once you get in, I will tell you which of my Flickr connections (she is in England) just went through this. She may have found a solution — she had thousands of beautiful photos up there too. Horrible customer care!!!! I pay for my account, I am sure you do too. Let me know if you want me to paste a statement from you on your most recent photo (the one with the corkscrews hair).
This is freaking MESS. I had to open a Yahoo account, which immediately opened me a NEW Flickr account so I don’t quite know how to get the old account connected to the new one…I followed their dumb little steps to send a “case” to their help system but who knows. This sucks! I can probably look over old pictures/comments to see who to reconnect to and just start a new account, but I have lost all my followers now and can’t get them back. They only posted a notice that this was happening in the HELP FORUM! They did not send any email notification of the switch happening so how was I to know to make the change before it was too late!!
What a horror story. One thing we can do is post a link to the new account in the Comment area, along with an explanation. That might work in the interim. Something like “Per Marey: FYI, …. until the problem is resolved. Please bear with this…” etc. etc.
Yeah maybe…right now I am just trying to wrap my mind around the new structure and get all that settled in my head. I may just start a new damn account and say to hell with trying to re-connect. At the least I am not going to kill myself to get that done. The only thing I hate to lose is all the people who followed me…I don’t know how to get that back. Oh, and I will have to change my links here and other places I had linked to my Flickr account. Damn…they really did a terrible job with this!

FYI I still have all my Flickr stuff along with ALL your pics. Hope you get a good resolution.
Yeah the account is still there – I just no longer have access to it. I tried to follow all my old followers but to add insult to injury Flickr is treating me like a new user and won’t let me add more than 20 people for an entire week. Crap!
I FOUND A SOLUTION!! I was able to log back into my old flickr account with pro Flickr…. Previously I was logging in through the Google login link provided below however they’ve disabled that function. So instead I tried logging in with my [email]@gmail.com as user name and password and I was able to get in!! and the user ID is strange with random order of numbers (i.e. adbdf23423sdfsdfsdf) and characters! Try it out and I hope you’re able to recover your old account like I did!! Keep me posted!!
That didn’t work for me 😦 I still get the same error message. Oh well…glad you could get in!
In the past…have you used your gmail account to login?
It’s weird, because I used another email account that was associated with my gmail. But I just tried it using the actual gmail account and it’s a no-go. I still get the error message.
Yes this happened to me as well! I can still access my old Flickr account via smartphone however the connection to login through google is now apparently lost! It’s also upsetting because they’ve been taking out money from my paypal quarterly for the Flickr PRO account which is non-existant because of their new terabyte policy which I was grandfathered into. They’ve automatically made a new account for me which is not what I want whatsoever and now they’re basically “stealing” my money for an account I can’t even access into! What a horror story….
Hang in there – there are many people in your boat right now I fear. I’m pretty pissed and have been dealing with it all day. I am about to give up and just use my phone app to upload an announcement to the old account and give a link for people to follow me at the new one. There is only so much of this BS I can handle. I hate that all my old photos are going to just sit there though…hopefully enough people are affected that they will have to fix it somehow.
And yes, I have a PRO account too – just paid for it in February!
