A few camera-nerd things about this video: I usually film these videos using my Canon 7D and my 50mm lens, but this morning I put on my 85mm by mistake. I didn’t notice the error until after I’d uploaded everything to my computer, but in the end I’m really pleased with how things look using this lens. The focus is really narrow on the 85mm so when I move even a little things go slightly out of focus, but overall I like this lens better than the 50mm and am going to continue to use it (the 85 is a better portrait lens than the 50, but the 50 is generally easier to use and does have sharper clarity).
Also, after struggling against that patterned backdrop last time, I remembered that about a year ago I bought a pop-up backdrop in gray that I’d stuck into my photography storage closet and never used! Ridiculous. I can’t tell you how many times in the past year I could have used that thing had I remembered about it. Anyway I propped the pop-up against the wall and it works great (getting it back into it’s storage case is another story).
I also made sure to put on my “studio face” this time and am slathered in about ten pounds of makeup! Honestly, filming this latest round of videos, from start to finish, has taken most of the day, but that’s partly because of how picky I am about the quality. Applying my stage face takes at least another 45 minutes, but I was determined to do it this time. Moving on.
Now, Celeste. Nice cut, gorgeous color, typical Envy wig. I know some people love Envys, but to me their cap construction isn’t up to snuff and I’m often disappointed with the quality. That said, they have pretty colors and nice styles, and I’m not averse to trying one every now and then. The brand will just never be a favorite for me.
Disclaimers: I bought this item with my own money and no one paid or asked me to do the review. Opinions are my own.
