About a week ago I wrote a post about some of the difficulties I’ve had finding a stylist who was willing to cut wigs. At the time, I promised to upload a review of the Amanda wig I’d had customized, as well as some before and after photos, so here it is.
As you can see, Amanda was a huge mess of hair right out of the box. I had no idea what to do with all of that – it was thick and long and very warm, to say the least. After managing to escape my first styling incident with the wig still intact, I contacted Kathy at Gallery of Wigs, where I’d purchased Amanda in the first place. For an extra $35, she did the trimming and styling herself, and the results were pretty phenomenal:
It still feels like a lot of hair, but it was much more wearable after this! Amanda has been put through the ringer over the years, and the hair is pretty dry, but from afar, at least, it still looks pretty good.
Kathy doesn’t style wigs unless you buy them from her, by the way, but I think the styling is still a service she offers to her customers. She did a great job for shaping up something that wasn’t even on my head (she is in another state, so I had to ship the wig back to her with instructions on what to do with it. And yeah, I got a stylist friend of mine to write up the instructions, because on my own I had no clue).
Anyway, here’s a very recent review of my customized and much-loved Amanda by Jon Renau. Enjoy!
