Video Wig Review: Alana by Envy in Chocolate Cherry

Well, we’re back to the older wig videos since school is back in session, and this one is from that sad, dark time in the past when I was using an insane red backdrop, so sorryboutit.

I usually don’t re-watch these old videos before I upload them, so I don’t know if what I say in a blog post actually concurs with what I say in the vid – but in looking back at this one now, it’s a pretty nice style. Envy wigs aren’t my favorite though; overpriced for what they are and I’m not always thrilled with the cap construction. Plus, they can be a little thick and heavy. Some nice colors though, and some decent styles.

I think Alana is still in production, but I’m not sure. Anyway, here it is!

Disclaimer: I bought this item with my own money. Opinions are my own; your mileage may vary.

  1. I really value your opinion and have watched most of your wig reviews. Just curious, why don’t you try human hair? I am trying to figure out which would be the best choice.

    • I have tried HH, but in my opinion it’s a completely different experience from start to finish when choosing HH over synthetic. You have to be much more careful what you purchase and where you purchase it from, you are going to spend a lot more upfront (although the wig will last longer which probably evens out with the cost of replacing a synthetic every 6-8 weeks), and what you do with the wig when you get it in is a different experience, because you usually have to cut it, then you have to style it regularly and care for it differently. It depends on what you really want and what you are willing to spend time and money on.

For me, HH is not practical because I’m not the sort to take my wigs somewhere and get them styles. I also do not want to style my wigs in the morning. And I certainly don’t want to dedicate the amount of time and research that goes into ensuring I get a decent-quality HH wig. I want to look online, decide what I want to try, buy it from whatever store has the best price, put it on my head when I get it in, and be done – either I like or I hate it, but done either way. Then when I choose to wear it, I want to stick that sucker on and GO. No styling, no work, no fuss. Of course, I have a full head of hair, so wigs are my choice when I don’t want to style. If I had hair loss, maybe I would go with HH because it is cooler, lasts much longer, and it does feel like real hair and is more realistic (although I think modern synthetics are very realistic too). But the hassles aren’t worth it for me.

Neither one is better than the other; it’s just which is better for you. I am not much help when people want to buy HH since I don’t have much ex[experience with it; but there are plenty of people out there who do who can help. 🙂 Good luck!

      • Thank you for your detailed response! I really appreciate it. And I just have to say, the hairpieces you review always look great on you!

  2. Thank you for all your reviews! You are the only one I could find that reviewed Stella by Estetica, but it is no longer found online. Could you consider reposting that review? Thank you.

  3. Have you tried the Envy HH and synthetic blends? I have read that they may last longer than the synthetics. Would be curious to hear your opinion about them. The Shyla looks very cute and the Lynsey is cut a little like Haute. Cheryl

    • Hmmm, I tried a Lynsey a long time ago, but the monotop was really sparse so I sold it without ever wearing it. It might help the synthetic to last, though – I haven’t heard either way whether it does or not.
